Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 10, 2025
1. Our Privacy Commitment
fflow is built on a fundamental principle: your data belongs to you, and only you.
We don't collect your data because we genuinely don't need it. fflow works entirely on your iPhone using iOS APIs. We have no servers to send your data to, no databases to store it in, and no business model that requires knowing anything about you.
2. Data We DO NOT Collect
- Personal Information: No names, emails, phone numbers, or any identifying information
- Usage Data: No tracking of which apps you use, how long you use them, or when you use them
- Camera Data: Your camera feed is displayed in real-time and never saved, recorded, or transmitted
- Analytics: No usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral tracking sent to us or third parties
- Location Data: We don't access or collect any location information
- Device Information: No device identifiers, model info, or system data
- App Selections: We don't know which apps you choose to monitor
- Settings & Preferences: All stored locally on your device only
3. How Your Data Stays Private
On-Device Processing
All app functionality happens locally on your iPhone:
- Monitoring: iOS DeviceActivity API tracks usage entirely on-device
- App Selection: Uses iOS FamilyActivityPicker - app tokens never leave your device
- Settings: Stored in iOS UserDefaults and SharedPreferences (local storage only)
- Analytics: Usage statistics calculated locally, never transmitted
- Camera Feed: Displayed in real-time, never captured or saved
No Network Communication
fflow does not make any network requests for tracking or data collection purposes. The app functions completely offline.
iOS Privacy Protections
We leverage iOS's built-in privacy features:
- Screen Time API: Apple's privacy-first API that uses opaque tokens instead of app names
- Family Controls: Permissions required, data stays sandboxed on your device
- Local Notifications: Scheduled locally, no push notification servers
4. Third-Party Services
We use NO third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
Apple Services (Required for App Functionality)
fflow uses only the following Apple-provided services:
- App Store: For app distribution and updates (governed by Apple's Privacy Policy)
- StoreKit: For in-app purchases (Premium subscription) - payment information handled by Apple, not us
- DeviceActivity & FamilyControls: iOS frameworks for screen time monitoring (all on-device)
We do not integrate any third-party SDKs for analytics, crash reporting, or advertising.
5. In-App Purchases
If you purchase fflow Premium:
- Payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store
- We receive only a purchase receipt validation token (no payment details)
- Your billing information stays with Apple - we never see it
- Premium status is verified locally on your device
6. Permissions We Request
fflow requires the following iOS permissions to function:
Family Controls Authorization
Why: Required by iOS to monitor app usage and apply app shields.
Data Access: Opaque app tokens only - we cannot see which specific apps you select.
Privacy: All monitoring happens on-device using iOS Screen Time API.
Camera Access
Why: To display your reflection in Mirror Mode.
Data Access: Live camera feed only, displayed in real-time.
Privacy: Feed is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. No photos or videos are captured.
Notifications
Why: To alert you when time limits are reached.
Data Access: Schedule local notifications only.
Privacy: No push notifications, no notification tracking, all scheduled on-device.
7. Data Retention
Since we don't collect any data, there's nothing for us to retain.
Your local data: All settings and usage statistics stored on your device remain there until you delete the app or manually clear app data in iOS Settings.
8. Children's Privacy
fflow does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require age verification because we have no need for any personal information. We do not provide any content - we only help users monitor their own app usage.
9. Your Rights
Since we don't collect any of your data:
- Access: All your data is already on your device in iOS Settings
- Deletion: Uninstall the app to remove all local data
- Portability: Not applicable - we don't store your data
- Correction: Modify settings directly in the app
10. Security
While we don't collect data, we still prioritize security:
- All local data is protected by iOS's sandboxing and encryption
- Premium verification uses Apple's secure receipt validation
- No login credentials, no passwords, no authentication tokens to compromise
- Anti-debugging protections in release builds prevent reverse engineering
11. Changes to This Policy
We will notify users of any material changes to this Privacy Policy through:
- App Store update notes
- In-app notification
- Update on this website
Our commitment remains unchanged: We will never collect your personal data.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy:
- Email: support@fflowapp.com
- Bug Reports: bugs@fflowapp.com
13. Legal Compliance
GDPR Compliance: Not applicable - we don't collect personal data of EU residents.
CCPA Compliance: Not applicable - we don't sell or share California residents' data (we don't collect it).
App Store Requirements: Fully compliant with Apple's privacy requirements and app tracking transparency.
In Plain English
fflow is designed to help you, not to track you. We built this app to solve a problem (doomscrolling), not to harvest your data. Everything you do in fflow stays on your iPhone. We can't see it, we don't want to see it, and we have no infrastructure to collect it even if we wanted to.
Your privacy isn't a feature - it's our foundation.
